Overstaying your visa in Nepal 2018
You can easily apply online to extend your visa in Nepal from Kathmandu or Pokhara. It’s easier then paying the fine at the airport.
Visa fee as of June 2018
15 days for $30
30 Days for $60
45 Days for $90
60 Days for $120
90 Days for $180
Please note: You can choose Individual days after 15 days. After it you have to pay $2 a day.
I extended my visa in Pokhara for 15 days. Before going to the immigration office (in Pokhara) you need to apply online and upload a portrait picture of yourself too.
If you do overstay and would like to pay the fine at the airport, make sure you give yourself plenty of time as the immigration team doesn’t seem to be in any rush to take your fee and stamp your extension on your passport.
What you need to take with you to immigration office;
- Copy of passport (bio-page) and current visa page
- Online application form bar code number (uploading a picture is needed too)
Application online (from Pokhara)
How to fill out online application form address in Nepal (this applies if you are planning on extending visa from Pokhara)
Street Name: Lakeside
Ward No: 6
Visa application hours
- 10:00 Am – 4:00 Pm (Sunday to Thursday)
- 10:00 Am – 1:00 Pm (Friday)
- Closed Saturday and other public holidays
If you do any mistakes on the application online you would not be able to submit your info. Once you have done this you will receive a bar code number which you will need to fill out (paper form) in the immigration office. From immigration office you pay your fee and they stamp your passport with a new date extension from the time your entry visa is due to expire.
The process at the airport took approximately 1 hour with the Nepali immigration.
I needed to fill out a visa extension form and then pay the $36 fine (in rupee 3600). After fee has been been paid my passport was taken to someone else to add extension sticker, then another person needed to stamp sticker and then a supervisor to sign and approve.
My advice don’t try this out it took me 15 mins to extend in Pokhara.
Hope this helps. If anyone has had a similar experience or anything changes keep me updated.
Over Staying your visa cost
The fine is $30 dollars + $3 per day on top.
